Area 3 meets the second Wednesday of the month. After a run to the Bulls Head, Belper Lane End and a superb supper in June, we visited for a second time on July 11th. Thanks to Mitch & Jean for organising.

A busy few weeks for our area. Firstly, Silverstone on August
18th.
The race meeting was generally less well attended than usual.
However Area 3 filled a table in the superb BRDC clubhouse for
most of the day! Good to see Geoffrey, Lucia, Alwyn, Paul &
Carol plus the exiles, Peter and John Stafford. The Staffords
had driven up in their immaculate DB2 convertible to join in with
the DB2 celebrations. Apparently Dominic was there, but keeping
a low profile at the oily end!
Next, the Summer Dinner at The Rothley Court Hotel on August 24th.
Unfortunately Chris and I were away that weekend. Rob and Jane
Toseland, the organisers, hosted the evening. Please see Rob's
report which follows my ramblings.
Chris and I went to the Hampton Court Concours on September 2nd.
It was a great day, and we were pleased to see Brian Fearn from
Matlock, who had travelled down in 'AVA' to do his Judge Jeffreys
bit for the organisers. We were also pleased to meet his son David.
I am taking names for the Christmas Party which is being held
at The Makeney Hall Hotel, Nr. Milford, Derbys, on Friday December
14th. The Hotel is in a delightful location and I am sure that
we will have our usual great time. The cost is £26 each,
of which a £10 deposit, payable to me, is required when
booking. Overnight accommodation is available but this needs to
be booked direct with the hotel (mentioning the Aston Martin party)
if required. I am sorry to be pestering you this early but the
Christmas bookings cannot be left any later these days.

September 12th Meeting : Many thanks to all for coming to The
Bulls Head and braving the Derbyshire Drizzle i.e. stair-rod rain.
Only 3 'proper' cars made it, 2 V8's and a Lagonda, their owners
leaving homes in Leics. & Lincs. on a pleasant dry evening!
Another enjoyable evening followed with the usual lively chat
and banter, punctuated by Jane's wonderful laugh, apparently triggered
by the code word 'Chameleon'!? Good to see David Dimelow plus
friends from Lutterworth, and also Russel Angell from Bristol
in Area 4. This was a surprise meeting at the bar, Russell must
have had quite a shock, expecting a quiet drink in a remote village
pub! The list is filling for the 'Fireworks at Lyme' and Christmas
Party events. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Rob writes: Six couples from Area 3 got together on August 24th
for a Summer Dinner at The Rothley Court Hotel, near Leicester.
In a quiet side room to avoid disturbing other guests, we had
a fine night of wining, dining and socialising. Three couples
got sensible and stayed overnight. Two couples shared a taxi.
Muggins here, volunteered to drive. Still, the Aston needed a
little run after being locked up for 2 weeks whilst I was out
of the country. Two V8's graced the evening, one of them being
a car of some history having been used in a centrefold in the
past. A suggestion that Rothley might make a good Christmas venue
one year was noted. Thanks to all those encouraging the event.
